Nanjing Secondary People's Court says that it has accepted a lawsuit lodged by Hong Kong based TVB against Jiangsu Telecom.
Jiangsu Telecom is accused of playing a soap opera from TVB called "Jin Zhi Yu Nie" without authorization from TVB.
TVB says in its petition that it has spent a large amount of money in creating this soap opera whose copyright and distribution rights solely belong to itself. TVB says Jiangsu Telecom broadcasts the television opera for profit without paying any fees to TVB.
TVB asks Jiangsu Telecom to stop the infringement and pay CNY100,000 in compensation.
The case is being processed by the court and a verdict should be reached in a few weeks.
