Last weekend, China Mobile issued a report to all of its service providers and said it had punished six companies who were involved in offering unregulated services.
This is the third time that China Mobile has publicly punished service providers (SPs).
The six are 263.net, Guangzhou Gunshi, Beijing Penghua Communications, Hua Ao Shi Ji, Beijing Xinzhimeng and Beijing Qingdian Wan Wei. They were found to be "misguiding users and luring them to subscribe to services" and offering incorrect fees.
China Mobile has asked each company to double refund users their relevant fees and has terminated their applications for new WAP services.
Beijing Penghua Communications received the most severe punishment. It has been removed from China Mobile's Monternet service.
