IWOSC: China's .CN Domain Name Registrations Rank Sixth

The China Internet Information and Resource Quantity Survey Report 2005, recently published by the Informationization Work Office of the State Council (IWOSC), shows that the .CN domain name registration in China exceeded one million for the year.
This puts China sixth in the world in terms of national-level domain name registrations.
The report says that by the end of 2005, China had 2,592,410 domain names in total, an increase of 40% compared with the same period of 2004.
Of that number, 1,096,924 domains were .CN website domain names, increasing 154% year-on-year, and China's global rank had advanced from sixteenth to sixth.
According to the report, .CN surpassed .COM.CN, accounting for 54% of the total .CN domain names.
In addition, total Internet web pages reached about 2.4 billion, increasing by 269% compared with that of the year before.
