China Satcom announced that the construction of its satellite broadband IPSTAR at Beijing gateway has been completed and it is now able to provide broadband service in 10 provinces in northern China.
The construction of IPSTAR at the Shanghai gateway and Guangzhou gateway is expected to be finished in September 2006. It will then provide broadband service across the whole country.
Zhang Hainan, general manager of China Satcom, says that their IPSTAR can bring the advantage of satellite communications to effectively solve the Internet access difficulty in places such as the countryside and remote areas.
IPSTAR is a low-cost and high-capacity broadband satellite system developed by China Satcom in cooperation with Shin Satellite PLC from Thailand.
