Local media report that China Unicom (CHU), one of the two major mobile operators in China, will set up a new subsidiary responsible for procurement.
With this subsidiary in place, China Unicom will change its current procurement pattern from several large scale purchases in a year to year-round regular purchases.
China Unicom will also open a special sub-department to take charge of its CDMA mobile phone procurement. Again, China Unicom plans many smaller procurements each year to strengthen its CDMA business and the products it can offer consumers.
