China's Software Objectives Over Next 5 Years

Ding Wenwu, deputy director of the Electronic Information Product Management Division of the Ministry of Information Industry, disclosed at the 2006 China Software Industry Development Forum that China's software and information service will increase 30% annually.
Ding said the total value of the sector would break CNY100 billion, and that of export value hit US$12.5 billion by the year 2010.
Ding said general planning for the software and information industry during the 11th Five-Year Plan Period was made based on the current situation as well as the estimation of China's software market in the next five years.
Ding emphasized that special planning would be mainly concerned with self-innovation, industry structure adjustment and computing platform expansion with emphasis given to operation systems.
