China Mobile's (CHL) operation in Shanxi has reached an agreement with the local radio, film and television department for combining the telecom network, Internet network and cable television network into one in Shanxi's Jingle County.
According to their agreement, China Mobile will take 60% of the income, and the radio, film and television department receives the remaining revenue.
Gao Buwen, general manager of China Mobile, said that lagging communications in the rural area offers a great opportunity and may yield a gold mine for his company.
Apart from the merger, China Mobile also plans to initiate ten comprehensive information service projects, including broadband and network oversight stations, to the rural area.
