Wang Zhengfu, vice president of AMD (AMD) China, disclosed to local media that AMD will open a mobile computing technology R&D center in Shanghai next month.
Wang said the new center will be responsible for the research of AMD's global mobile computing, and further details regarding the amount of capital invested and personnel arrangement at the new center will be announced in August.
At present, AMD has a computer testing center in Taipei, which is responsible for testing AMD's products. AMD's Beijing R&D center was set up in October 2005 and last year AMD formally opened its Greater China Headquarters in Beijing's Zhongguancun Science Park.
Recently, AMD executives signed an agreement with the Chinese Ministry of Education to donate CNY6 million during the next three years to extend the deployment of information technology supporting primary education in underdeveloped areas of middle and western China.
