China's Ministry of Information Industry (MII) announced that it will provide funds to 21 projects involving TD-SCDMA, AVS, WLAN and WAPI.
For TD-SCDMA, MII will allocate funds to support TD-SCDMA smartphone embedded operation system development and manufacturing; TD-SCDMA core technology and terminal products manufacturing; and HSDPA product development and manufacturing.
For AVS, MII will finance AVD coder, code transmitter, AVS based IPTV top box and system, AVS based red ray high definition disk and AVS based chips.
Unexpectedly, MII has not included WiMax or VOIP in the range of its support. Local media speculate this may be because these technologies were not originally developed in China.
