Chinese search engine giant Baidu.com (BIDU) has dissolved its enterprise software service department, leaving 20 staff to do their own searches for new employment.
According to local media, Baidu convened a teleconference on Monday for staff in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen and informed the enterprise software department staff that they were losing their jobs.
Baidu explained in an announcement that it has decided to cancel the enterprise software department because the service does not match its core Internet search engine business. Baidu promised to provide those staff affected reasonable compensation.
At present, Baidu's income in China mainly comes from ads, enterprise search ranking and enterprise software, of which enterprise search ranking accounts for more than 90% of its total income.
