Lenovo Group (LNVGY) has unveiled its Center of Excellence, a new organization responsible for supply/demand forecasting, pricing, sales and product mix strategies, inventory management, and performance measurement.
"Our goals to lead the PC industry in customer satisfaction and operational excellence require Lenovo to be even more 'in tune' with our customers and markets," said Lenovo CEO William J. Amelio. "We must sense rapidly evolving market conditions and customer needs more quickly and align them with our innovation engine, manufacturing capacity and supply chain efforts more effectively. The new COE will enable us to do just that."
David Schmoock, 37, has been appointed to lead the new organization as senior vice president, COE, effective immediately. He will report directly to Lenovo CEO William J. Amelio and will be based in Singapore.
Schmoock was most recently vice president, Marketing for Dell's Asia-Pacific/Japan region, and also held roles in product marketing, brand management and notebook operations in Dell's Americas unit. Prior to joining Dell in 1997, Schmoock spent eight years in positions of increasing responsibility at Xerox Corp.
