China Unicom Signs Wireless Music Services Deal

Global Music International has partnered with China Unicom (CHU) for joint development of China Unicom's wireless music services and broadcast of its music video content throughout China Unicom's cellular network.
The agreement calls for joint development of China Unicom's Wireless Music services, jointly designing the framework, perfecting the wireless music market and establishing new digital music consumption models and concepts.This will enable wireless digital music consumption, take advantage of the "anytime anywhere" nature of the mobile network, and help create a large new market for the benefit of consumers and the music industry.
China Unicom currently has over 135 million mobile subscribers and is ranked the third largest mobile carrier worldwide. The mobile digital music platform developed by China Unicom for both GSM and CDMA networks can support a variety of music services such as ringtone download, ringback tones, IVR, song dedications, and on-demand music video.
The agreement also covers distribution of Global's music video programming, on a monthly subscription basis, for broadcast on mobile phones.
