Eighty-one wireless value-added service providers from all over China, including 40 from Beijing, arrived at the Ministry of Information Industry last week to choose new short message service code for themselves.
This is the second batch of such codes issued by MII.
All the 81 firms are those who have already received an access code from their respective basic telecom operators and have begun to provide service to users. They must choose a new code in an order based on the schedule that their original code was launched.
After this batch of code is sent out, MII will soon begin its third round of code issuance. MII says that all the firms should use the new service code starting 12AM on October 31, 2007.
