The rampant stealing of ADSL numbers is expected to come to an end with Beijing Netcom adopting a new measure.
Beijing Netcom says that from now on, users of ADSL need to make a confirmation before they use the online payment functions of ADSL.
Earlier, the company paused the roaming function of ADSL by binding ADSL numbers with telephone numbers, but it did not effectively stop the number stealing.
However, the company says that although it has made efforts in preventing number loss, thieves may still get users' accounts through other means. Beijing Netcom suggests that users frequently change their password or install a firewall on their computer.
