One year after the launching its CDMA roaming service in Macao, China Unicom (CHU) has now formally opened CDMA service in the region.
China Unicom formally launched the CDMA roaming service in Macao on October 18, 2005 following its acquisition of a license on June 7, 2005, but it did not start providing the full CDMA service until now because of the Macao SAR government's requirement to first run roaming services for twelve months.
China Unicom's current CDMA service license in Macao is approved until 2013.
