Shanghai Telecom and Shanghai Mobile have signed a cooperation with Shanghai Information Commission to invest a total of CNY40 billion in the coming four years to help promote informationization development.
With these efforts, it is expected that by 2010, the broadband and information resource can be available to anyone in the city. Wan Guoguang, deputy general manager of Shanghai Mobile, says that Shanghai Mobile will push forward a big informationization project that consists of ten major items including mobile political affairs, e-commerce and new surburb communications construction for the World Exposition during the 11th Five-Year Plan.
Wang Wei, general manager of Shanghai Telecom, says that during the same period, Shanghai Telecom will focus on completing a "1-2-3-4" strategy, namely, constructing one communications umbrella group, creating two projects (World Expo Informationization Project and New Surburb Informationization Project), serving three areas (government, enterprise and family) and implementing four plans (plan on city management and public field informationization; plan on information content development; plan on upgrading citizen services; and plan on major events' communication and network safety).
