MII Arranges Development Of Computers For Farmers

Jiang Yaoping, deputy minister of China's Ministry of Information Industry, disclosed at the Communications Service and Rural Area Informationization Application Conference 2006 that China has invested more than CNY20 billion on rural communications in the past two years.
Jiang also noted that Chinese agencies have launched telephone service in over 67000 villages in 22 provinces, cities and autonomous regions across the country, accounting for 98.7% of the total villages in the country.
Jiang said that MII had also arranged relevant enterprises to develop computers specially for farmers. At present, there are about 6389 agriculture-related websites in China.
