Electronic appliance manufacturer Haier has announced a cooperation with Intel (INTC) to jointly set up an Innovation Product R&D Center to improve Haier's PC strategy.
Gao Yicheng, director of Haier's Computer Department, has disclosed that PCs have become the second-largest growth driver for the entire group, following its home appliance service. Gao says that the new R&D center will mainly study products to meet the new technology trends and the demands for both the up-market and low-end markets.
Yang Xu, joint general manager of Intel Asia Pacific, adds that the parties will also invest in the development of game-ready computers.
The new R&D center will be made up by a design team from both parties.
