The Beijing News has brought Tom.com (TOMO) to court because the latter has republished one of its articles without prior permission.

The Beijing News is asking Tom.com to pay CNY3 million compensation and make a public apology on all major commercial websites and media. The Beijing News says that it asked Tom.com to stop the infringement immediately after finding the illegal behavior, but Tom.com refused to pay for the republished article and continued to use its other articles.

A representative from Tom.com says that they are negotiating with the Beijing News and the unauthorized republishing of the articles may just be a misunderstanding. The representative has not disclosed more details.

The case is being processed at Beijing No. 1 People's Court.
