The development of China's 3G systems has reached the high levels of government with recent meetings taking place between Chinese and Swedish officials.
Leaders from China's Ministry of Science and Technology's Department of International Cooperation and Department of High and New Technology Development and Industrialization say they have held a substantive discussion with Staffan Hakansson, director of the Swedish Agency for Innovation Systems (VINNOVA), and Lars Rask, CEO of the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF), on future strategic cooperation in new-generation (Post-3G) wireless communication and networks.
Managers of research departments from domestic companies like Huawei, ZTE, and the Shanghai Research Center for Wireless Communications also attended the discussion.
In line with major science and technology programs at MOST, the Sino-Swedish cooperation in Post-3G communication will be another constructive move initiated by the Department of International Cooperation after the recent Sino-Finland cooperation in nanotechnology. However no details of the deal between the Chinese and Swedish side has yet been released to the public.
