Canon China has announced on its website that it is recalling six types of photocopiers because they are likely to cause fires.
The six types of photocopiers are FC-3, FC-5, FC-3II, FC-5II, PC-850 and PC-870. Canon says it will check these products and add flame retardant materials to them, free of charge.
Canon says that the components in FC-3, FC-5, FC-3II, FC-5II are old, so they may cause smoke or burning when affected by other factors, and PC-850 and PC-870 can develop cracks on their circuit panels which may also cause fires.
A representative from Canon China has told local media that these six types of photocopiers were legacy products made between 1994 and 1999.
