In response to media reports that Datang Mobile and Shanghai Putian are discussing a merger, a representative from Datang Mobile says it is impossible for Datang Mobile to consider the merger as it has a better brand than Shanghai Putian.
The representative has also denied the report that Datang Mobile will be recombined with Datang Group's listed company Datang Stock.
However analysts quoted in local media say that there are still some possibilities that the two will be combined as this would do good for the development of Putian, a large state-owned enterprise which has been in a difficult situation of late.
Earlier, local media quoted the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration of the State Council as saying that it was feasible to combine Putain and Datang and it would encourage the move at an appropriate time.
