Zhu Jun, deputy director of the Economic Adjustment and Communications Settlement Department of China's Ministry of Information Industry, says MII will try to lower the domestic roaming fee in 2007 by limiting the upper limit of the fee and listening to industry suggestions.
Zhu says that the contradiction between the local calling fee and that of the domestic roaming fee has become more and more obvious with the constant decrease of the local calling fees. So this year, MII will further listen to the opinions of consumers and reduce the fee.
2006 saw an apparent decrease of mobile phone calling fees in such high cost areas as Beijing and Shanghai and the fee gap between different regions was narrowing.
