News from the China Electronics Standardization Association is that a high-performance computer standard work commission has been formed in China with the aim of making a standard for high- performance computers.
The new commission consists of more than 20 members including Dawning, Langchao and the Computer Institute of China Academy of Sciences. Li Jun, initiator of the commission and CEO of Dawning, says that China's high-performance computers, which are found in wide applications in national defense, meteorology, and securities, is in urgent need of a standard in order to protect the nation's safety and interests.
The scale of China's high-performance computer technology and industry has surpassed that of Europe and ranks third in the world. However, it still lags behind advanced countries in the higher performance computer field.
