A Beijing court has made a judgment on music companies' indictment against Yahoo China, which had been accused of violating online music copyrights, asking Yahoo China to remove the free music downloading links from its website and compensate CNY200,000 to the plaintiffs.
The court believed that Yahoo China should take some responsibility, for its behavior had to a certain degree fostered online music copyright violation throughout China. However, a spokesperson for Yahoo China claimed that they wouldn't accept the judgment and would soon submit an appeal.
In January this year, Yahoo China was accused by many music companies, including Warner Brothers, for providing more than 200 music downloading links on its website, and the plaintiffs had asked for US$710,000 in compensation.
