Yang Yigang, vice president of China-based Datang Telecom, disclosed last week on the 2007 World Telecommunications Day that the firm has drafted a 4G standard technical scheme.
Datang has also begun R&D on 4G and 3G technology convergence in China.
Datang will now submit their proposal to ITU after the convergence trials in China are completed. The standard will become an international standard if ITU accepts the proposal or merges it with other international standards.
Datang is currently preparing to launch the standard and verify relevant 4G core technologies and products.
