China Netcom Will Spend Half Of Expenditure On Broadband

Zhang Chunjiang, chairman of China Netcom (CN), has disclosed to local media that China Netcom will spend 50% of its capital expenditure in 2007 on broadband services and upgrades.
China Netcom's 2006 fiscal year report shows that the company's broadband revenue increased by 34.9% in 2006 and reached CNY10.556 billion, and by the end of 2006, the broadband user base increased 31.4% and reached 15.08 million. In order to further strengthen its broadband strategy, China Netcom enlarged the investment of its broadband network. It is estimated that China Netcom's capital expenditure this year will be about CNY21 billion.
By April 2007, China had 57.26 million broadband users.
