Linux and open source solutions provider Red Hat (RHT) has announced the appointment of Andrew Hu as president of Red Hat Operations in Greater China.
"It is a very exciting time for open source and I look forward to helping Red Hat realize its potential in the Greater China market," said Hu. "With organizations under greater pressure to achieve more with less, there are now more reasons than ever for IT decision makers to consider open source for their mission-critical systems."
Hu will be responsible for overall operations, business development, marketing and sales in the region and will report to the president of Red Hat Asia-Pacific Operations, Gery Messer. Hu holds a Master's degree in business from Carnegie Mellon University and an undergraduate degree from Virginia Polytechnic University. He will be based in Beijing.
"Asia Pacific is a key market for Red Hat and we are committed to investing in resources to continue growing our presence in this region," said Messer. "With his strong management background, Andrew Hu’s appointment to the team will ensure Red Hat is well-placed to take advantage of the rapidly expanding market prospects that exist for open source."
