Beijing Unicom Launches Mobile Email Service

Beijing Unicom, a subsidiary of China Unicom, has formally announced its new mobile phone email service to compete with nascent Blackberry services.
Based on the advanced CDMA 1X technology, Beijing Unicom's mobile phone email service connects 165 internet with CDMA 1X network and enables mobile phone users to enjoy all the convenience of email with a mobile phone, including receiving, forwarding and sending emails. Besides, it also enables users to listen to the content of their email by calling 1016060 and following the voice guides.
The mobile phone email account is a user's mobile phone number plus @165.com. The capacity for the common email users is 200 megabytes and that for the VIP users is three gigabytes.
Research In Motion, the company that runs Blackberry, has been running its competing service with China Mobile.
