Because of hidden fire trouble, 460,000 portable DVD players produced in Taiwan will be recalled in Japan.
According to the importer and seller of the DVD players, these products were made by Taiwan Axion Company and in recent years this type of DVD player has caused more than 500 accidents, including the emission of smoke and warping of the case. The Japanese seller said the accidents were caused by an improper LCD back light IC panel and inadequate jointing.
It is estimated that the recall of the products will cost Axion about CNY860 million.
