China's first self-designed TFT-LCD production line has been put into operation in Shanwei, Guangdong Province.
Invested by Truly with US$300 million, the 2.5 generation TFT-LCD production line is also the first of its kind in Guangdong Province.
Featuring great flexibility in responding to multiple orders, the production line is designed to produce LCD panels below 3.5 inches. The annual output value of the line is estimated to be CNY4 billion. As the line adopts Truly's own design, the mould-making cost is reportedly low. Hu Jun, assistant to the general manager of Truly, has told local media that the cost for mould-making had been decreased from US$300,000-600,000 to about US$140,000 via this process.
