Chinese online auction service provider Taobao.com has announced plans to implement its Consumer Guarantee Program on its entire website and at the same time it has lowered the threshold for businesses to participate in the program.
Taobao.com had previously put the program into practice on a trial basis on the three goods categories of Taobao Online Shopping Mall, Mobile Phone and Digital Camera and Online Games.
Taobao's Consumer Guarantee Program is designed to reduce the risk for buyers as a result of sellers' fraud. Though the requirement for sellers to enter this program has been decreased this time, the sellers are still asked to meet certain criteria in credit level, users' good comment and complaint rate apart from paying for a certain amount of deposit which will be used to compensate the buyers in case of the buyer's violation of the rules.
