A representative from the Marketing System Construction Division of the Ministry of Commerce has disclosed to local media that MC has published a new regulation on the operation of home appliance retail stores.
This new regulation asks that the total number of home appliance retail stores in cities be controlled. Home appliance sellers must also not lower the quality and after-sales service for promotional goods and must not use substandard goods as prizes or gifts during their promotions.
The home appliance retail market is booming. Companies like Suning, Gome, Best Buy, and Dazhong are quickly consolidating and expanding their operations around China. Meanwhile, consumers have lately been complaining about the lack of oversight of these retail operations, as they often find problems associated with services and promotions.
