General Administration of Press and Publication and the Anti-pornography and Illegal Publications Work Team have jointly issued an updated circular, asking their affiliates at various levels to remove 40 online pornographic novels from the websites in their regions.
The two parties reportedly have jointly punished or will punish the 348 domestic websites that had published the 40 novels. They said that no website should be allowed to republish, provide links for or spread these novels. Otherwise they shall be punished according to relevant laws.
A representative from GAPP said that publishing pornographic novel online is against the laws of China, the country's Publication Management Rules, and the Internet Information Service Management Measure.
