Following a cooperation with Shanghai Media Group, China Mobile (CHL) has now reached another deal with China Radio International for its mobile phone television service.
CRI is the third organization in China that has obtained a mobile phone television business license from the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television. In April, 2007, CRI and China Unicom jointly launched a mobile phone television program service.
Li Yue, vice president of China Mobile, says that China Mobile began to test mobile phone television services in 2005. At present, China Mobile's mobile phone television service has supported up to 160 types of terminals with a total program order of more than 250,000.
China Mobile and China Unicom each has had three partners for mobile phone television services. The difference is that China Mobile's service is run on 2.75G EDGE network, while that of China Unicom is run on CDMA.
