Instant message service provider PICA will cooperate with five mainstream communications operators in Hong Kong and Macau to provide instant messaging services in the two regions.
PICA will work with Hong Kong's CSL, PCCW, SmarTone-Vodafone, Peoples and Macau's CTM. The five parties will adopt PICA's IM technology and spend over HK$100 million to promote the use of IM in Hong Kong and Macau.
This cooperation marks a first technology output from domestic IM enterprises to a transnational operator, and it shows that the cooperation between IM service providers and telecom operators are deepening.
Launched in January 2005, PICA has had more than 10 million registered users. Not long ago, the company entered into an alliance with MSN to provide technology and solution to the latter.
