Over ten top managers from Cable & Wireless International, the main shareholder of Macau Telecom Company, have arrived in Macau to hold their first ever board of directors' meeting in the gambling capital of Asia.
Lord Robertson, Chairman of CWI, says that choosing Macau as the destination for their meeting shows CWI's confidence in Macau Telecom Company and Macau's development prospects, and CWI will continue to support Macau Telecom Company's development and try its best to promote the economic growth of Macau.
Cable & Wireless is one of the world's leading communications companies. It operates through two stand-alone business units, Cable & Wireless International and Cable & Wireless UK. CWI's business covers over 33 countries around the world.
Macau Telecom was set up 1981. At present, Cable & Wireless holds 51% of the stake of the company. The other shareholders of the company include Portugal Telecom, CITIC Pacific and Macau SAR government.
