Shanghai Securities Paper reports that China Mobile (CHL) will soon increase the amount of fees paid to third-party WAP service providers, but the fun might not last long.
Following this report, the stock price of value-added service providers of China Mobile, such as Linktone (LTON) and Hurray (HRAY), rose.
However, this situation may be temporary. Last Friday, China's State Administration for Radio, Film and Television, announced that from October 1, all the television stations must not broadcast beauty contest programs during the primetime period of 20:00-22:00 and at the same time no mobile phone voting, telephone voting or online voting is allowed for these kind of TV programs. This new edict could punch a further blow into the sides of the already emaciated Chinese wireless value-added service providers.
