MII: Chinese Software Industry Up 22.9%

Statistics from the Economic System Reform and Economic Operation Division of the Ministry of Information Industry show that the income of China's software industry reached CNY34.389 billion in the first eight months of this year, up 22.9% compared with that of the same period last year.
Of the total income, CNY121.25 billion was from software products, increasing 24.1%; CNY84.05 billion from system integration, up 18.5%; CNY55.81 billion from software technology services, up 23.9%; CNY74.26 billion from embedded system software, rising 24.5%; and CNY8.52 billion from IC design, up 27.6%.
Software and integrated circuits have been the emphasis of China's information industry in recent years. However, China still lags far behind the developed countries in its software industry, accounting for less than 6% of the global software market.
