Shanghai Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce has identified eight types of unqualified mobile phones, accounting for 26.7% of the total mobile phones it checked, during a spot check on the city's mobile phone market.
The eight types of mobile phones are reportedly all made by Chinese manufacturers. They include Bubugaoi268 made by Guangdong Bubugao Electronics Industry Co., Ltd; Changhong A320 made by Sichuan Changhong Electrical Appliance Holding Co., Ltd; TSD TS923B made by TSD Mobile; and mobile phones made by Shenzhen Gaoxinqi Technology Co Ltd, Desai, Hantel, Tianlong and Jinpeng. The problems of the mobile phones lie in their standby times, static discharge performance, operation and function testing. SMAIC has asked the sales of these mobile phones to be halted.
SMAIC says it inspected two online shopping websites and 30 kinds of brand goods this time, including 24 nationally made and six imported ones. The result shows that eight kinds of goods are disqualified.
Complaints against mobile phones have been on the increase in recent years. In 2006, SMAIC says it received 6619 complaints against mobile phones, but in the first eight months of this year, it already received 5883 complaints on mobile phones, accounting for 9.08% of the total complaints.
