EMC says it will increase its investment in the Chinese market to US$1 billion over the next five years.
In June 2006, EMC announced plans to invest US$500 million in the Chinese market. The company plans to use the additional investment on expanding its research and development services in China and supporting its development in Chinese market over the next five years.
EMC has already set up the EMC China R&D Center in Beijing. The Beijing Center is said to be a good complement to the Shanghai Center, which was upgraded to a Center of Excellent in January 2007.
Joe Tucci, EMC's president and CEO, says that the increase of the additional investment shows the company's commitment to China's economic development and this once again emphasizes the importance of Chinese market to EMC's longterm growth.
