Beijing Municipal Department for Industry and Commerce's recent test results show that some Sanyo microwave ovens and Noah Ark electronics are unqualified for various reasons.
BMDIC's test showed that some components in Sanyo's microwave ovens contain excessive heavy metals and fire retardant PBDE, which will cause poisonous gases during improper recycling.
In a spot check, BMDIC also found that Noah Ark's NP800 contains more hexavalent chromium than necessary in the plating layer of its speaker. The chemical can reportedly cause hereditary gene failure and even cancer when inhaled.
