The Beijing Municipal Department of Public Security says that 26 second-hand mobile phone markets and 29 second-hand computer markets in Beijing have installed monitoring cameras and identification devices, enabling the markets to keep records of the real identities of sellers of these products.
Realizing that many criminals were disposing stolen or contraband goods through unlicensed stores or waste metal recycling stores, BMDPS has been promoting such measures as real-name registration at used goods markets across the city this year, with the emphasis given on second-hand mobile phone and second-hand computer markets.
Since the real-name transaction system started to be adopted, the police department has already captured eight illegal groups that had worked on collecting or selling stolen electronics, detaining 223 criminals and uncovering 419 cases.
