SMBQTS: Three Types Of Mobile Phone Batteries Are Unqualified

During a recent spot check, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision has identified three types of unqualified mobile phone batteries and SMBQTS says these batteries may cause explosions and should be recalled.
The three kinds of batteries are "Chaolitong" L-MOT-V33.7V600mAh Lithium-ion battery made by Shenzhen Chaolitong Electronics Company; Amoi No.43.7V1150mAh Lithium-ion battery made by Amoi; and TSD TS923B3.7V1200mAh lithium-ion battery made by Song Xunda Zhongke Electronics Company.
SMBQTS' inspection results show that the general quality of batteries of non-original cell phones made and sold in Shanghai are poor and their safety performance needs to be improved. SMBQTS checked 15 kinds of cell phone batteries and found five kinds were unqualified. Among them, two Lithium-ion batteries, including "Weitai" battery for Motorola's V3 phone, have the problem of short standby time, while the other three unqualified batteries pose risk of exploding.
SMBQTS reminds consumers to pay attention to capacity and voltage when purchasing mobile phone batteries.
