China Netcom (Hong Kong) Operations Limited, an affiliate of China Netcom, says it plans to launch an enterprise global network optimization solution in Hong Kong.
Cui Tao, CEO of China Netcom (Hong Kong) Operations Limited, said at a press conference that the solution will include network upgrading, Internet high-speed access, one-stop ICT outsourcing, software development, IDC and material backup.
Though Cui did not disclose the amount of investment needed for the above services or further details about the client numbers he expects to gain, he said that these services would contribute more to the company's profit in the next year.
In the face of market changes, fixed communications operators in China have begun to shift their business. As early as 2003, China Netcom set a goal of shifting its role from a traditional fixed network voice operator to a broadband communications and multimedia service provider. In order to facilitate this shift, China Netcom has decided to invest over CNY10 billion on developing ICT services to become a first-class service provider by 2015.
