After the blizzard affected the travel routes in several Chinese provinces, local Internet travel service provider Ctrip.com (CTRP) has launched a travel guarantee fund for major natural disasters.
Guo Guang, director of Ctrip's Holiday Service, said that Ctrip.com had invested CNY1 million in setting up the major natural disaster travel insurance program and would compensate tourists who have booked travel service to regions that have been affected by the blizzard. Ctrip.com said it would fully refund tourists whose trips had to be canceled because of the snowstorm.
All the compensation expenses will be taken from the travel insurance fund and Ctrip has posted information on its website to assist travelers with gaining reimbursements.
