Chinese Internet search engine Baidu.com (BIDU) and China Netcom have jointly launched an SMS search service.
Named Lingtong Zhidao, the new service is an SMS-based search service that integrates the database of Baidu Zhidao and the database of China Netcom's classified information. Little Smart PHS users only need to input their questions and send to 106569114 before they can find an answer to their question.
With only about 15% of China's population using the Internet, Lingtong Zhidao has greatly lowered the threshold for users to use Baidu Zhidao and will enable more extensive user groups to enjoy the pleasures experienced by desktop-bound Internet users each day.
