Shenzhen-based Great Wall Computer Company has denied a rumor saying that Great Wall Computer will acquire the laptop computer business of Amoi.
A representative from Great Wall Computer's PR department says that the integration of Amoi is currently just a plan for the company. The person says as both companies are listed companies, their acquisition may be limited by some factors, so the acquisition has not been started.
In April 2007, Amoi announced plans to give up its laptop computer business and shift to OEM pattern due to continuing losses. As both Great Wall and Amoi are listed companies of China Electronics Corporation, CEC's reduction of 50% of its affiliates is believed to be the cause of the rumor that Great Wall will acquire Amoi's business.
