China Mobile has fulfilled its commitment to providing 3G service for the Beijing Olympic Games by delivering 15000 Samsung TD-SCDMA mobile phones and related services to the Beijing Olympic Games Organizing Committee.
According to Chinese media, the donations that China Mobile and Samsung have made to China Mobile include 15000 TD-SCDMA mobile phones and SIM cards, up to CNY3 million in calling fees and related communications service.
Wang Jianzhou, president of China Mobile, says that these donations will make it possible for Olympic officials and staff to enjoy such featured TD services as mobile phone television program, MMS and wireless Internet service.
On April 1, China Mobile put TD-SCDMA into trial commercial use. The use of the TD-SCDMA mobile phone this time by Olympic staff further extends the range of service and lays down a foundation for the formal commercial use of the service.
