Ma Huateng, president of Tencent, told media that Tencent is planning to expand past its instant messaging origins to launch an email and search service.
Ma says that Tencent will first launch an email service, for which the company has already completed the relevant development. He says while the email service will be launched soon, the search service may not come out so soon as they are currently studying best ways to launch.

Tencent's financial report for the first quarter shows that the company's total revenue in the first quarter was CNY1.4 billion, which was an increase of 85.4% compared with the same period of last year, and profit was CNY737.3 million, up 125.2%.
